A former business journalist and Fortune 500 spokeswoman, Lesli Hicks earned her master's degree in History from The University of Texas at San Antonio in May 2007 and began teaching History in August that same year at a private Alamo City private school. Her areas of professional focus are U.S., Texas and World History. She has researched multiple topics, including slavery in Bexar County, women and children in the Jewish Holocaust later living in Texas. She has published numerous articles. She lives in South Texas with her husband and two children from China and a rescue dog.
