I am originally from Indiana, a small dairy farm thirty miles north of Indianapolis, where I loved working with the animals, particularly my horses and German Shepherds. I am the first of my family on both sides to graduate from college. After I graduated from Purdue with a BA, I moved to Texas, began teaching, and took my MA at Texas State University. Since then, I have been very involved with my teaching and taking classes at various universities. I am fortunate to spend my life doing what I love and deem worthwhile. It is a bit amazing and a joy to see students improve their language proficiency over the weeks and months and semesters. I have the 'before' and 'after' firmly in my mind's eye and ear. I respect my students' potential and hard work.

Travel: Beginning in 1989, I have traveled yearly to France (except during this Pandemic), spending considerable time in the Loire Valley, Reims, Amiens, la Côte d'Azur, Savoie, la Rochelle, Strasbourg, Colmar and Paris, among other lovely French locations where I profited from learning about the history and culture first hand and from the gracious, welcoming French. And what a treat to speak French exclusively.
