Professor of Theatre Arts / Chair and Artistic Director Department of Theatre Arts Office Location: HIT 200-C Phone: (210) 829-3805

Mark Stringham joined UIW as a student after his linguist job with the Department of Defense brought him to San Antonio. While working as a contractor at Lackland Air Force Base, Mr. Stringham continued to pursue his BA degree in Theatre Arts from UIW. He graduated in 2004, completed his MFA in Acting in 2007, secured a prestigious apprenticeship, and with two agencies representing him, moved to New York. While in New York City, he performed on stage, TV, film, commercials of various kinds, and found a love of developing new plays. He also had performed in various LORT Theatres across the country, including Actors Theatre of Louisville, Cleveland Playhouse, Public Theatre (NY), and others. Mr. Stringham returned home to UIW in 2009 as a faculty member, under the mentorship of Margaret Mitchell and Dr. Bob Connelly. He began improving and adding to the acting curriculum while using his Albanian language skills to discover and translate Albanian plays. Mr. Stringham found a love for directing thereafter and has since directed equity and non-equity productions. After Dr. Robert Ball retired, Mr. Stringham became the only acting instructor at UIW. He currently serves as interim Artistic Director of the Classic Theatre of San Antonio.
