Andrew Schoen is an active performer and educator based in San Antonio, TX. He serves as Lecturer of Saxophone at the University of the Incarnate Word and maintains a private studio for middle school, high school and adult students.
A passionate advocate for chamber music, Schoen is a founding member of the Aruna Quartet. The group has garnered national and international acclaim, including the Grand Prize and Gold Medal at the 46th Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. Aruna actively commissions new works, presents intimate concerts and engages with educational programs across the United States.
Schoen enjoys working with a wide range of students of various ages and experience levels. His students have won prizes and recognitions in competitions including the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition, the Coltman Chamber Music Competition and the MTNA solo competitions. Students of Schoen’s studio have regularly placed in the TMEA region and area honor ensembles and have been accepted into undergraduate and graduate music programs across the country. Previously, Schoen served on the faculty of Clemson University and Lubbock Christian University.
His primary teachers include David Dees and Stephen Jones at Texas Tech University and Will Campbell at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Schoen has also benefited from additional study at the Frederick L. Hemke Saxophone Institute, where he received intensive study over two summers.
