George Fahlund

As a bassist, music educator and Austin native, Mr. Fahlund has performed with the San Antonio Philharmonic, SA Harmonie Ensemble, San Antonio Symphony Orchestra, Austin Symphony Orchestra, Austin Opera, Austin Playhouse, and Zachary Scott Theatre. Mr. Fahlund is a proud alumnus of The University of Texas at Austin, where he had the privilege to study Lower Strings with both Dr. David Neubert and Mrs. Phyllis Young. In his almost 30 plus years as a professional musician, Mr. Fahlund had the pleasure of accompanying such artists as Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, Hilary Hahn, Andrea Bocelli, Barbara Conrad, Bobby McFerrin, Diana Krall, Elvis Costello, The Celtic Women, Lyle Lovett and Willie Nelson. During Mr. Fahlund's time as a music educator, his students have consistently received top chairs and superior ratings at both TMEA- and UIL-sanctioned events. Mr. Fahlund has trained over 60 young bassists to become TMEA All State performers. Of those 60, seven of them have been first chair/principal.

Mr. Fahlund is a member of the following music organizations: Texas Music Educators Association, International Society of Bassists, American String Teachers Association, American Federation of Musicians.
