About ORGS

The Office of Research and Graduate Studies (ORGS) serves as the advocate for leadership in research and graduate and professional education at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW). In collaboration with administrators and faculty, ORGS provides strategic direction, support and oversight to post-baccalaureate education and research at UIW.


In collaboration with the UIW global community, the Office of Research and Graduate Studies provides strategic direction, support and oversight to post-baccalaureate education and research at UIW. In support of the University's mission, we develop policies and procedures for post-baccalaureate education and research and ensure quality and compliance. We promote responsive, engaged scholarship and enhancement of academic and research integrity.

We accomplish our mission through education, research, creative activities and service while being good stewards of the resources entrusted to us.

Research and Sponsored Projects Operations

Research and Sponsored Projects Operations (RSPO) promotes, supports and administers funding for research and scholarly activities throughout the University of the Incarnate Word community.

RSPO is responsible for University research administration operations, ensuring compliance with sponsor rules and regulations, and managing UIW's research compliance committees and policies. The office also assists the UIW community with internal funding programs, disseminating funding opportunities, grants and research-related training and development, promoting scholarly activities and opportunities, and routing funding proposals for institutional approvals.

Research Funding

RSPO offers opportunities and resources for faculty and students to find and manage funding for their research and research related endeavors, and manages the internal approval process for external funding proposals.

Research Compliance

RSPO serves as the hub for UIW's Institutional Review Board, clinical trial registration, responsible conduct of research, financial conflict of interest, and university research policy operations. We conduct on-demand training as needed and review proposals and active projects for continued compliance.

Research Development

RSPO organizes research development activities such as the annual Research Week, provides researcher support for the development and analysis of statistical data, and offers grantsmanship training opportunities for the UIW community.

Graduate Studies

Graduate Studies (GS) is responsible for implementing and overseeing effective policies, processes and practices to support academic achievement and retention of graduate students.

GS promotes, supports and advocates for graduate academics, professional development and student support.


Graduate Studies has responsibility for oversight of academic policies, procedures and processes of graduate and professional programs.


Graduate Studies works to ensure that opportunities and resources are available to faculty and students throughout the academic process.

Professional Development

Graduate Studies staff members facilitate programming focused on developing skills needed by graduate degree holders.
