Military Tuition Assistance Request Deadlines

Please ensure you are mindful of the deadlines regarding military tuition assistance:

Tuition Assistance deadlines vary by branch of service and by course start date. Select your branch below and confirm the current request window in your service education portal. Submit your approved Tuition Assistance authorization to UIW as instructed. If you cannot find your course or term, contact your Education Center and UIW Military and Tuition Assistance Support before the deadline.

Service members requesting Tuition Assistance (TA) and Veterans requesting Veterans Affairs (VA) benefits should use the official UIW term start date listed on their class schedule when completing their military benefits request.

Online Students: Students are not expected to begin meeting until the first Monday of the term.
In-Person Students: Students will meet according to their assigned meeting day and course schedule.

If you're unable to find the term you're looking for in your TA portal, you're likely trying to submit a Tuition Assistance request either before the request window has opened or after it has closed.

While you may be eligible for tuition assistance, the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) does not qualify for the $250 per credit hour rate for active-duty service members.

How To Process a Tuition Assistance Request (TAR)?

Coast Guard	One week before classes begin	Apply for Coast Guard Tuition Assistance (TA) benefits.
Marine Corps	One day before classes begin	Learn more about the Marine Corps process to request tuition assistance (TA). Marine Corps request TA through the WebTA website (login required).
Navy	One week before classes begin	Learn more about the Sailors' process to request tuition assistance (TA).
Space Force	One day before classes begin	Space Force members should apply for Tuition Assistance through the Air Force Portal account at the Air Force Virtual Education Center site.

Every military branch has its own guidelines; therefore, active-duty students should consult their service's education office before pursuing any voluntary education program.
