The University of the Incarnate Word's School of Professional Studies provides textbooks for your undergraduate and graduate classes at no charge to the active-duty service member (including National Guard or Reservist using Tuition Assistance) or to the military.
Free textbooks apply to undergraduate and graduate courses taken through the School of Professional Studies and do not apply to courses taken on the UIW main campus or other UIW schools. Free textbooks do not apply towards doctoral degrees.
Most of our textbooks are eBooks (electronic textbooks), which are accessible and portable no matter where you are located.
Undergraduate eBooks will be available immediately in Canvas. Graduate eBooks will be available starting approximately 4-6 weeks before the start of the term. You will receive an email with detailed instructions on how to access your eBook and/or order your hardbound textbook.
A few of our courses have traditional hardbound books that will require shipment. Active-duty military hardbound books are shipped when the student submits the book voucher to the bookstore.
Undergraduate course book vouchers are located under the “Course Outline and Book” section of your Canvas course.
Graduate book voucher instructions will be emailed approximately 4-6 weeks before the start of the term, in which instructions are given to access any graduate eBooks or vouchers for hardbound texts. Deadline to order books to APO/DPO/FPO addresses is also included in the email.
Please note that any books requiring shipment to APO/FPO addresses should be ordered no later than three full weeks before the start of the term to provide sufficient time for the books to arrive. Failure to do so will delay the delivery of your textbook and could affect your progress in the course. Register and order your books early!
