Student Organizations

Get Involved!

This is your university. It is you, the students, who give your university its unique character and identity. This personality is reflected in the many student groups and activities found on campus. Membership is your ticket to an insider's view of this wonderfully diverse student population.

After browsing the list of student organizations at UIW, if you would like to join or request membership, click on the membership button located on the upper right-hand corner of the organization's Engage Portal. The Engage Portal is the organization’s profile page within UIW Engage.

Want to join a student organization but don’t know where to start? Start by browsing what active student organizations UIW has to offer through UIW Engage. You can use the link provided or go through your Cardinal Apps to UIW Engage and select the organizations' tab. There are even filters and categories to help you find what you are looking for.

If you notice that an organization you are interested is no longer active and you would like to help in revitalizing the organization, reach out to a Campus Engagement representative through email at campusengagement@uiwtx.edu or stop by the Campus Engagement office located in Student Engagement Center in the Campus Life suite (SEC 3150). We will be able to help you gather information on the organization and on what steps you will need to complete to reactivate an organization.

Student organizations that remain inactive for less than one year may gain active status by reaching compliance with the Campus Life organizational expectations. All organizations that remain inactive for more than one year must resubmit as a new organization and regain active status.

Don’t see an organization that works for you – then start one! You just need at least eight students interested in starting a new organization with you and you are well on your way. Visit the New Student Organization page for more details.

Joining an organization actually brings many benefits. Not only will it help you develop leadership skills through hand-on experience, you will also make lasting friendships through shared experiences and interests with your fellow students. From service opportunities, professional development and experiences you have yet to discover, joining a student organization is a way to grow as a student leader at UIW.

If you are looking to get in touch with members of a specific organization, you can view their UIW Engage portal or profile to see their current leadership or officers. If you click on any particular officer or the listed point of contact, UIW Engage will populate an email address where you can contact the individual personally about any questions you might have.
