Welcome Home, Alumni!
Dear Alumni,
This week marks the start of my favorite time of year. The energy is palpable as faculty and staff are eagerly preparing to welcome students for the start of new legs in their journeys. Some of our Cardinals have already started their studies and are well on their way along their paths of transformation and discovery.
I am sure you remember the feelings of excitement and anticipation that a new year brings. After all, it was only a few years ago (or maybe just a bit longer than that) that you were embarking on your very own Incarnate Word journeys.
Since those days, your journeys have taken you far and wide. And while I have no doubt that they will lead you further still, I want to remind you that they also lead back home. As alumni, you are dear members of our university family, and we want to invite you to play active roles on our campuses and with our students whenever you can. Throughout the year, we have organized many opportunities to do just that.
- For our Cardinal football fans, one of our most anticipated community events takes place this September 13 when UIW meets UTSA at the Alamodome. Make your reservations to celebrate this San Antonio-style battle of the birds with a pre-game party at SMOKE and be sure to get your tickets to what is sure to be an unforgettable game.
- There’s no place like home(coming) at UIW. So, I hope you are making plans to take part in this year’s Oz-themed celebration of the Incarnate Word spirit. Our dedicated Office of Alumni Relations team has put together an impressive array of activities and special events. Visit our Homecoming 2025 page to learn more and register today. I look forward to seeing you there!
- Yet another reason to come home is our annual Light the Way holiday festival. This year marks our 39th and we continue the tradition of illuminating our Broadway campus and inviting our extended family and neighbors to celebrate the start of the Christmas season with us. Be sure to visit our designated Alumni zone where you can reconnect and celebrate with your fellow graduates.
This is just a sneak peek at all that awaits you this year, dear alumni. Our Alumni page is constantly being updated with new opportunities to reconnect with your classmates, network with alumni outside of San Antonio and engage the Incarnate Word community wherever you may be. Keep an eye on your inbox for emails and invitations, too!
As always, I invite you to keep in touch with our Alumni Relations team. We want to hear from you. Share your life events, your wins, your growth and how you are living the Mission in the world.
Praised be the Incarnate Word!
With warm regards,
Thomas M. Evans, PhD
