Teach Abroad

To further the Department of Study Abroad's goal of fostering cross-cultural competencies through curriculum, our team facilitates international experiences for UIW faculty and supports their professional endeavors abroad. We welcome faculty to enhance their professional journey through virtual team teaching and guest lecturing, teach at UIW-Strasbourg or a Sister School, or conduct a sabbatical abroad!

Department Mission

The University of the Incarnate Word’s (UIW) Department of Study Abroad, which includes the Office of Sister School Partnerships and the Study Abroad Office, provides meaningful service to UIW’s diverse student, faculty and staff community by:

  • Fostering cross-cultural competencies through curriculum which includes (with*) global perspectives and an emphasis on social justice.
  • Engaging students and faculty in intentional international opportunities such as the exchange of students, scholars, research and innovative ideas.
  • Building strategic partnerships across UIW’s campuses, San Antonio, and the globe, especially those in the Americas.

Teach Abroad Opportunities

Many  UIW Sister Schools welcome visiting scholars such as guest lecturers and team teachers to enhance their classrooms and internationalizes the curriculum.  International team teaching and guest lecturing foster  UIW’s  mission statement on liberal learning, which prizes curiosity and seeks to expand boundaries. Exposure to diverse viewpoints, instructional styles, and international collaboration, fosters cross-cultural competencies in the classroom.
