On Wednesday, Dec. 10, the UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM) celebrated veteran and military-connected student doctors at the annual Military Match Day ceremony on the UIWSOM campus. As soon-to-be doctors, many of UIWSOM’s military-affiliated students have applied to medical residencies and other post-graduation programs, awaiting word as to where in the country they will go and what specialties they will practice.
December brings both the close of the academic year and the anticipation of the Christmas season. At the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), it also marks a time of celebration as the University recognizes a new class of graduates preparing to take flight beyond the Nest. Prior to the Fall Class of 2025 Commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 13, several events were held to commemorate the students’ achievement.
On Monday, Dec. 8, a bold new alliance of four innovative universities was officially commemorated at the UIW Broadway campus. Dubbed CHARISM: Catholic Higher Education Alliance of Rising Institutions in Service and Mission, the alliance brings together the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), Dominican University, University of Mount Saint Vincent and Universidad del Sagrado Corazón to provide exciting new opportunities to its students.
