Annual President’s Posada Brings Campus Together for the Holidays
As the holiday season arrives, we are reminded to reflect on the many blessings that enrich our lives. This sense of gratitude and unity comes to life at the President’s Posada, where our community gathers to celebrate.
On Wednesday, Nov. 19, the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) community gathered for the President’s Posada, an annual event hosted by UIW President Dr. Thomas Evans and his wife, Mrs. Lisa Evans. Coordinated by the UIW Campus Life team, the celebration brings together University leadership, staff, students and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word (CCVI) to share a festive meal and embrace the spirit of the holiday season.
The beloved tradition filled the cafeteria with smiles, laughter and warm conversation as attendees enjoyed a variety of cuisines, including pasta, beef fajita street tacos, cilantro lime chicken, enchiladas, street corn, fresh vegetables and more.
"This may have been the best President's Posada yet," said Evans. "We had nearly 700 people join us, and I asked every guest that I could to tell me about the best part of their day. For many, the best parts of their day happen at the University of the Incarnate Word. Be it a great Chemistry lab, extra time with a faculty member, a fantastic workout with their team or even just coming to campus -- the highlights happen here, on our campuses and among our community. The Posada was another wonderful expression of this, and I am grateful to all who contributed to its success."
This event is made possible by the collective efforts of the Incarnate Word community. In the days leading up to the Posada, faculty, administrators and staff gathered to roll silverware and prepare for the celebration. Many also volunteered on the day of the event, helping serve the meal and ensuring a warm, welcoming experience for all.
“The President’s Posada is a wonderful event that brings our entire campus community together and provides an opportunity for our faculty and staff to serve our students,” said Dean of Campus Life Eric Booth. “We always have such a great response from faculty and staff wanting to be a part of the preparation of the event and the actual serving. The Campus Engagement team did a phenomenal job of coordinating the Posada which served nearly 700 UIW students this year. This was a recording setting year for the Posada and we are so grateful for all of the volunteers who helped make that happen.”
Happy Thanksgiving! Praised be the Incarnate Word.
