The UIW European Study Centers (UIW ESC) were developed through a partnership between UIW and CEPA Europe. This partnership allows UIW to offer students a wide variety of courses taught at the European Study Centers, as well as at its local partner schools, the SRH University Heidelberg and/or University of Strasbourg.
All courses are taught in English and credits are issued by UIW so students can work toward graduation while experiencing German and/or French culture. Subject areas include European business, international relations and EU Studies, and German language courses. The academic programs during the fall or spring semester are 17 weeks long, and the two summer sessions are four weeks long.
Work completed at a UIW ESC will fulfill the requirement for a study abroad experience for International Business and International Relations students. Internships and service-learning opportunities are also available for those seeking to gain hands-on international work experience in a German company or organization.
The UIW ESC in Heidelberg is housed in a villa centrally located in a residential area of Heidelberg, and features comfortable student rooms, classrooms and seminar space, a computer lab, wi-fi, laundry facilities and a spacious garden. Meanwhile, the UIW ESC in Strasbourg is housed in Château de Pourtalès, a 250-year-old fairytale castle nestled gracefully in a beautiful park just minutes from the EU institutions and the historical center of one of Europe’s most dynamic and multi-cultural cities, Strasbourg, France.
