There’s No Place Like Home(coming): UIW Celebrates Homecoming 2025
Homecoming at the University of the Incarnate Word is a time that showcases the full extent of its community. Whether Crusaders or Cardinals, students or staff all members of the Incarnate Word family returned to campus to celebrate Homecoming 2025.
This year’s theme There’s No Place Like Home(coming), allowed UIW to celebrate familiar faces, lasting friendships and the Mission that first brought people together. The week hosted numerous events to both honor the legacy of UIW and the Sisters and to showcase the ongoing stories unfolding at the University.
On Wednesday, Oct 29, UIW alumni gathered at the Historic Pearl District for UIW Alumni Relations’ Taste of the Pearl event. UIW graduates from multiple classes reunited as they took a tour of popular bars and restaurants in the local San Antonio area. During the event, attendees fondly recalled their time at UIW, sharing cherished memories amongst community.
The UIW community showcased their athletic abilities by participating in the annual Breakfast Taco 5k run on Saturday, Nov. 1. Runners took in the beautiful views, landscapes and landmarks of the Broadway campus and enjoyed delicious tacos after they crossed the finish line.
“It was a blessing to honor our UIW alumni and give thanks for the generations who’ve shaped our community,” shared UIW Mission and Ministry.
Following the Mass, attendees continued the cherished tradition of placing flowers on the graves of the CCVI Sisters, honoring their service, love and enduring legacy.
The week’s celebration concluded that afternoon with the Alumni 50th Reunion Brunch. The Class of 1975 came together in the Joeris Ballroom for a special celebration to honor their time at the institution. Additionally, this annual tradition recognizes Golden Spire Society members—alumni who have celebrated their 50th reunion and continue to be cherished pillars of the Incarnate Word family. The event was filled with joy as alumni reconnected with their alma mater and demonstrated their University pride.
“Homecoming is a special time for alumni of all generations and eras of our beloved University to come back to campus where their journeys started,” shared Alumni Relations Manager Clarissa Gauna. “Each year, we are able to welcome back a distinguished group of alumni that celebrates their 50th class reunion, this year being the Class of 1975. During the 50th Reunion Brunch, the class, in addition to past classes who have already celebrated their 50th reunion, is inducted into our Golden Spire Society, an honor that recognizes their legacy and achievements since graduating from the University.”
Thank you to everyone who celebrated Homecoming 2025 and praise be the Incarnate Word!
