UIW Makes “Great Colleges to Work For” List
San Antonio – September 20, 2024 – The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) is proud to announce that, for the 16th consecutive year, UIW has been recognized as one of the best universities to work for in the nation according to a new survey by the “Great Colleges to Work For” program. UIW is one of just 53 four-year institutions to make the list. The results are collected by independent survey company ModernThink and released today in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education.
“I often say that UIW is a community of faith and education unlike any other, and, simply stated, it is because our wonderful faculty and staff make it so,” said Dr. Thomas M. Evans, UIW president. “Every day, they strive for professional excellence and for making all students feel valued. It fills me with a great sense of pride to see the teamwork and dedication shown across our campuses as our faculty and staff fulfill our Mission and I am thankful for their daily effort.
“There can be no doubt the stresses and challenges facing higher education today are collectively unprecedented,” says Richard K. Boyer, chief culture strategist at ModernThink. “And it seems as if there’s some new threat emerging on a weekly basis. But in this moment, in the 2024 Great Colleges to Work For awardees, we have examples of institutions that have navigated these tumultuous times holding true to their missions and values and never losing sight of the importance of their people.”
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institution questionnaire that captured employment data and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback. The “Great Colleges to Work For” program is one of the largest and most respected workplace-recognition programs in the country. It recognizes the colleges that get top ratings from their employees regarding workplace practices and policies.
