UIW Welcomes Cardinals back to the Nest with First-Ever Block Party
Full Slate of Events set for Homecoming Weekend
San Antonio, October 24, 2019 – For the first time, the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) will welcome home former Cardinals with a Homecoming Block Party called NestFest. The party will take place at the UIW Broadway Campus on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 6 to 9 p.m.
The family-friendly event will include food trucks, games and live music. In addition, the Homecoming King, Queen, and Court will be awarded, not just by votes, but by food. In another first, everyone is encouraged to bring cans of food which will be tallied into the results for the Homecoming Court. All the food will be donated to the Cardinal Cupboard food pantry. The Homecoming Court will be officially announced at Saturday’s game during halftime.
The NestFest Block Party is one of many events set up for the big homecoming weekend, including:

- Arts and Music Festival, SEC Concourse, 5:30 p.m.
- Exclusive Thirsty Thursday, UIW Bookstore, 6 p.m.
- Friday, Oct. 25
- UIW Women of Faith Luncheon, SEC Ballroom, noon
- 50th Reunion Dinner, Mabee Library Special Collections Room, 5 p.m.
- Homecoming Block Party - #NestFest, Front of campus, 6 – 9 p.m.
- Saturday, Oct. 26
- 50th Reunion Coffee Klatch and Campus Tour, Finnegan’s Coffee Shop, 10 a.m.
- Redzone Cardinal Tailgate, 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
- Sunday, Oct. 27
- Homecoming Memorial Mass, Chapel of the Incarnate Word, 10:30 a.m.
- Cardinal Brunch, CHRISTUS Heritage Center, noon
- Trunk-or-Treat and Fall Fest, McCracken House, 5 -7 p.m
UIW will take on Northwestern State in the Homecoming game on Saturday, October 26th at 4 p.m.
