New Partnership Allows for More Mobility Options

San Antonio, August 9, 2019  – Getting to, from and around the multiple San Antonio locations of the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) just got a little easier with a new partnership between UIW and VIA. The two local entities have come together to offer the VIA U-Pass, which will give UIW students, faculty and staff access to unlimited bus rides on VIA throughout the city.

“We are excited and grateful for this great partnership and this valuable opportunity for our current UIW family,” says Dr. David Jurenovich, vice president for Campus Life and Facilities Management. “One of the founding principles in our Mission at UIW is care for the environment. VIA has a proven history of sharing that forward-thinking vision. This partnership gives our UIW family more affordable access and another choice in transportation.”

The process to take part in the program is easy and efficient. Participants will need to download VIA’s goMobile app onto their iPhone or Android phone. They will then receive additional instructions via email.

“The VIA U-Pass program provides access to free and convenient transportation for thousands of college and university students, faculty and staff in the San Antonio region,” VIA President/CEO Jeffrey C. Arndt said. “This partnership connects UIW to the entire VIA system and offers alternatives that are convenient, cost-efficient and energy-smart. We applaud the leadership of UIW for providing their campus community with this important resource.”

The two-year pilot program is currently available and riders can plan their trips online at www.viainfo.net.
