San Antonio, October 14, 2019 – The University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) has been ranked No. 12 among the Top Workplaces in the San Antonio area on the annual list created by the San Antonio Express-News. UIW is the only university ranked among the top 15 in its category.
According to the Express-News, the rankings are based on a survey sent to employees at 134 local companies. Those companies employ nearly 48,000 people in the San Antonio area. The survey rated companies in seven different areas, including pay, benefits and training. But, it also included intangibles, such as “Connection, Effectiveness, Engagement, Alignment, Leadership, and My Manager.” Employers were ranked among groups of similar size.
“We are very grateful to be recognized in this way and it is another sign that we continue to move in the right direction as institution,” says Annette Thompson, chief human resources officer. “The fact that these rankings are based on a survey from our employees speaks volumes about how they feel about the work they are doing for the students and for the Mission at the University of the incarnate Word.”
UIW has 1,087 employees including 347 faculty and 740 staff members. In addition, there are 93 employees at Incarnate Word High School and St. Anthony Catholic High School who fall within the University system
This is the 11th year the Express-News has partnered with Philadelphia-based Energage to determine the San Antonio area’s Top Workplaces. The results are based solely on a scientific employee survey process.
