“Mi Casa Es Cu Casa: Come Celebrate With Us!”

San Antonio – The Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in partnership with University of the Incarnate Word, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System and the Heritage Center are hosting a celebration to commemorate the San Antonio Tricentennial. The event, Mi Casa Es Su Casa, will be held Sunday, April 15, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on the Incarnate Word campus.

All are welcome to this free, family friendly event. Join us for a fun day dedicated to the education and healthcare ministries founded by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Visit the Headwaters Sanctuary to learn about the water cycle and participate in fun activities. Grab a bite to eat from one of the food trucks on site and enjoy your meal on the beautiful grounds of the University of the Incarnate Word.

Activities will take place throughout the afternoon and include tours of the historic Brackenridge Villa, the Heritage Center and the Solar House. It will also feature performances by UIW students and a number of music, dance and performance groups. The CHRISTUS mobile units will also be on site offering free mammograms and children’s wellness exams, by appointment. Call 210-704-4100 to pre-register.

“We are so excited for this event as it examines the history of the Incarnate Word campus and of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word who started it all,” said Sr. Martha Ann Kirk, CCVI, a member of the UIW faculty and chair of the Incarnate Word Tricentennial Planning Committee.

In addition to taking a look at the past, the event highlights the different ways the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word have put their mission to work through education, art, care for the environment and spirituality for the betterment of San Antonio today and for the next 300 years.
