Official NWS Weather Station Installed at Headwaters
UIW program assists to provide more accurate data

San Antonio – As a part of the cooperative partnership between the National Weather Station (NWS), the University of the Incarnate Word’s Meteorology Program and the Headwaters at Incarnate Word, an official weather station has been installed at the Headwaters Sanctuary located adjacent to the UIW campus. The new station is now the closest of its kind to the city center and will provide valuable information to the NWS for more accurate weather forecasting. The site will also serve as an official backup station for the city’s main station located at the San Antonio Airport.

NWS staff members, including meteorologist and UIW alumna, Yvette Benavides, completed the installation with the assistance of UIW meteorology professor, Dr. Gerald Mulvey, and Headwaters representative, Corey Van Pelt. UIW is proud that this cooperative partnership aligns with our commitment to the environment and enables us to provide a service to the community.

The Headwaters at Incarnate Word and UIW are sponsored ministries of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.
