Welcome!

As a college student or community member, you may be worried about not having enough to eat or understanding what resources are available locally to address basic needs. Not having enough to eat or being food insecure can affect your physical and mental health, as well as your academic success.

The Cardinals' Cupboard Food Pantry is here to support our campus and local community. The Pantry is open to UIW students, faculty, staff and community members to access non-perishable foods, basic hygiene products and other basic needs on the Broadway campus, located at Joeris Residence Hall near the intersection of Highway 281 and Hildebrand (please contact the Ettling Center for specific location of the pantry).

Supporting the Cardinals' Cupboard Food Pantry

There are various ways an individual may support the Food Pantry:

  • Donate canned goods or other pantry needs such as diapers, "to go plastic utensil packages," laundry detergent, or socks (you may drop off items in room 158 of the Administration Building located on the UIW Broadway campus).
  • Volunteer your time to help operate or market information concerning the Food Pantry (please email: ccl@uiwtx.edu or call (210) 283-6423 for more information.
  • Donate personal toiletry items such as small shampoos, soaps, and combs (Note: the next time you are at a hotel, save the items and bring them to the Ettling Center, AD158, as soon as possible).
  • Donate can openers or individually packaged plastic utensils you may obtain while ordering or grabbing lunch or dinner (Note: save the items and bring them to the Ettling Center, AD158).
  • Provide a private donation that will go directly to serving the food insecure in our local community. For example, a $5 donation will help us buy 12 canned goods, a $10 donation can provide meals for a family of four for three days, and a $20 donation can help support a family of four for a week. Every dollar makes a difference.

If you wish to make a financial donation, we kindly ask that you mail it to the following address:

  • University of the Incarnate Word
  • Ettling Center for Civic Leadership (CPO #382)
  • 4301 Broadway, San Antonio, Texas 78209
  • (please make checks and/or money orders payable to: UIW-Ettling Center)

We thank you for your generosity and commitment to our global community. Should you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact Ettling Center staff at (210) 283-6423 or (210) 802-3208.
