Vision Statement

The University of the Incarnate Word will provide pathways for access to and success through a transformative education that prepares global citizens for mindful engagement in their families, communities, and career. This education is rooted in the charism of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word and graduates will recognize the Word Incarnate in all people and take action to improve our world.

 

Strategic Goals

  • Strengthening a pathway from the Brainpower schools to UIW and, potentially, to post-baccalaureate programs.
  • Create a pathway from Catholic educational institutions, both K-12 and colleges and universities, across the South to UIW.
  • Strengthen pathways from Central and South Texas high schools to UIW.
  • Create a pathway from national high schools to UIW.
  • Create a pathway from international high schools to UIW.
  • Strengthen a pathway for employees of our corporate partners from experience and previous education to certification programs, baccalaureate, and post-graduate education.
  • Create and strengthen pathways from UIW to experiences and careers in the CCVI ministries.
  • Create and strengthen pathways from CCVI ministries to UIW’s educational offerings.

Students of St. Anthony Catholic High SchoolPathways to Undergraduate Programs​

  • Brainpower Connection: A circle of collegiality connecting Catholic schools serving pre-K through 12th grade students
  • The Brainpower Connection's College Connection track for students of Incarnate Word High School and St. Anthony Catholic High School​ supports dual enrollment 
  • Early College allows eligible high school students to take courses and earn college credit during high school

 

UIW Health Professions StudentsPathways to Health Professions and Cross-Border Programs​

  • Health Professions Advisory Council supports pre-professional curricular alignment with health profession program requirements​
  • Health Professions Direct Admit provides guaranteed admission to health professions programs upon undergraduate admission​
  • Programs allow study across U.S. and Mexico to support the attainment of double and triple degrees, or degrees earned across study at UIW locations in the U.S., Mexico and Europe​​

CHARISM logoExternal Partner Pathways to UIW Programs​​

  • Establishment of CHARISM: Catholic Higher Education Alliance of Rising Institutions in Service and Mission that brings together the University of Mount Saint Vincent, Dominican University, Universidad del Sagrado Corazón and UIW in an innovative collaboration effort to provide new opportunities to students across all institutions​
  • Transfer agreements with Alamo Colleges​
  • Memorandums of understanding with all Sister ministries supporting enrollment at UIW​
  • Memorandums of understanding with regional universities, such as Our Lady of the Lake, St. Edward's University, Rust College, Texas Lutheran University and others.
