Discover hands-on opportunities for professional development

At the H-E-B School of Business and Administration, learning and growing into a business professional isn’t limited to the classroom. Students are encouraged to test their financial management, entrepreneurial and business plan skills via two in-demand opportunities.

Startup Challenge

Open to all UIW students, the Startup Challenge asks participating teams to develop a business plan from idea creation through implementation, for a product or service that helps address issues facing the world today. Winners collect thousands in seed money, or initial funding, to launch their plan.

Student Managed Fund

Each semester, select students become fund managers overseeing the UIW Student Managed Fund. Together, student managers carefully monitor the fund and develop investment strategies for its success and growth.

Jefferson Bank Investor Challenge for Rising High School Seniors

HEBSBA also provides opportunities for future business students to learn more about investing. Through the Jefferson Bank Investor Challenge, rising high school seniors can invest part of their summer break to study with faculty from the Finance Department and extend their practice through a mock investment competition through the fall.
