Find scholarships available to business students

Students at the H-E-B School of Business and Administration (HEBSBA) have access to thousands of dollars worth of scholarships available only to business students.

 

Mike McGuire Scholarship for Mission-Inspired Business Leadership

This is a one-year, $10,000 scholarship to a full-time student of UIW's HEB School of Business and Administration (HEBSBA), offered in the name of Dr. Michael McGuire, UIW Professor Emeritus of Economics, recipient of the UIW Spirit Award, Moody Professor, Fulbright Scholar and Visiting Professor to the Central American University (UCA) of El Salvador.

Objective

A businessperson is a practitioner who turns dreams into reality. A "mission-inspired business leader" is one inspired by the Incarnate Word's Spirit of service to dream good dreams and make them real for others. This scholarship aims to promote the formation of such leaders through experience and research.

Requirements

To receive the scholarship funds, the recipient must complete the following activities:

  • Devote at least 25 hours of supervised community service within the awardee's concentration to a business that exemplifies mission-inspired leadership.
  • Study the following Catholic Church documents:
  • Prepare a reflection paper that describes your experience in the light of the church documents.
  • Present your experience and readings at the UIW Service Learning Showcase.

Eligibility

Full-time undergraduate and graduate students of any concentration offered by HEBSBA, as well as graduating high school seniors who enroll full-time in HEBSBA.

Victoria Preses receives TBHF Scholar Award

UIW partners with the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation to offer multiple generous scholarships to aspiring entrepreneurs.

The Texas Business Hall of Fame (TBHF) celebrates the achievements of the state’s greatest business leaders and invests in future business leaders through its scholarship program.

TBHF Scholar Award

The scholarship, worth $15,000, is awarded to one UIW student each year. The scholarship is open to graduate and undergraduate students who exhibit entrepreneurial aspirations and a propensity for leadership and innovation. Applications for the scholarship open in the spring semester.

The application process for the 2024 TBHF Scholar Award is now open. The deadline to submit your application is Sunday, Feb. 18, 2024. Review the guidelines below to submit your application.

Nominee Qualifications

The Texas Business Hall of Fame is looking for students with the following qualities:

  • MBA or graduate students preferred – exceptions made for qualified undergraduate students advanced in their degree.
  • Good academic standing.
  • Exhibit entrepreneurial aspirations and a propensity for leadership and innovation.
  • Exhibits proven entrepreneurial track record.
  • Plans to pursue a career in Texas (live in Texas long-term and build their business in Texas).
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Award recipients are required to attend the Annual Future Texas Business Legend Award Luncheon on Nov. 13, 2024, in Dallas where awards are presented.
  • Award recipients are required to attend the Annual Induction Dinner on Nov. 13, 2024, in Dallas where TBHF inducts selected Texas Legends into the Hall of Fame. Future Texas Business Legend Award recipients are recognized at this dinner.
  • Note: Students or veterans who have previously applied and/or been nominated are eligible to apply again provided they still meet the above requirements.

Application Process

Students must fill out an interest form and submit a resume through the Texas Business Hall of Fame application portal. The deadline to submit your application is Sunday, Feb. 18. Marco Rodriquez

Marco Rodriquez was the winner of the 2023 UIW scholarship. He is the owner and operator of Never Falter Crossfit in San Antonio.

Sabrina Goains

Sabrina Goains was the winner of the 2022 UIW scholarship. She is the founder of Pink Print Jewelry, a homemade jewelry firm with a mission to reinforce sustainability and promote self-expression, and the co-founder of TXTYLE, a clothing and apparel company who sells Indigenous-made products in U.S. markets.

Jairo Cruces

Jairo Cruces was the recipient of the 2021 UIW scholarship. Cruces is the owner and founder of Cruces Cedar Clearing in Ingram, Texas. Read more about Jairo.

Victoria Presas

Victoria Presas was the recipient of the 2018 UIW scholarship. She and her husband own and operate a company that manufactures specially designed trailers for use in the oil field industry. Read more about Victoria.

Frank Rivera II

Frank Rivera II was awarded the UIW scholarship in 2017. Rivera II is an aspiring entrepreneur with experience in the video production industry. Read more about Frank.

Ramil Rodriguez

Marketing alum Ramil Rodriguez was awarded the UIW scholarship in 2016. He is an entrepreneur and also won the Business Plan Competition as a student at UIW. Read more about Ramil.

TBHF Veteran Award

The Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation also offers an award worth $15,000 to military veteran students with entrepreneurial aspirations. Applications for the Veteran Award are open in the spring semester.

Nominee Qualifications

The Texas Business Hall of Fame is looking for students who:

  • Are a United States veteran.
  • Exhibit entrepreneurial aspirations and a propensity for leadership and innovation.
  • Exhibit a proven entrepreneurial track record (preferred).
  • Study at an institution of higher learning in Texas and enrolled in or associated with a business or entrepreneurship program in Spring and Fall 2024.
  • Exhibit leadership in campus and community activities.
  • Plan to pursue a career in Texas.
  • Exhibit good academic credentials.
  • Are preferably a graduate or MBA student. Exceptions are made for high-quality undergraduate students.
  • Are able to attend the TBHF Annual Scholar Award Luncheon and Induction Dinner on Nov. 13, 2024, in Dallas. Attendance is required to receive the award.
