July 29, 2022

UIW recently announced the following faculty members as recipients of the Faculty Endowment Research Award and/or the Faculty Workload Reassignment Award.

Dr. John Hooker wins Faculty Development Award

Dr. John Hooker

Dr. John Hooker, assistant professor of Environmental Science, was awarded the 1881 Commemorative Award for Faculty Development by the Faculty Research Award Committee. The 1881 Commemorative Award for Faculty Development Fund was established to celebrate 1881, the founding year of UIW, and to encourage faculty development. The goal is to foster professional development for faculty and to recognize the leadership of a faculty member in relation to the University’s Mission. Hooker will study the accelerating mineral CO2 sequestration at UIW

The Faculty Endowment Research Award provides limited support for new and ongoing faculty research projects. The award is considered “seed money” for research. Honorees use the funds to begin projects and seek further funding from external sources if continued support is needed and normally available in their chosen area of research.
