Major Funding from Frost Set to Help Students

San Antonio – April 23, 2020 – The University of the Incarnate Word is proud to announce it has received a $20,000 donation from Frost in support of the UIW Emergency Impact Fund. Through the fund, currently enrolled students can apply for grants to assist with the costs of moving, remote learning, food, housing, technology and other necessities needed due to COVID-19.

“This is a generous donation and a major boost to the UIW Emergency Fund,” says UIW President, Dr. Thomas M. Evans. “Our students have been fine examples of grace and perseverance during this entire pandemic and we hope this will fund will help bring some relief. Frost has always been a tremendous community partner for the University and once again they are proving to be community leaders during these very trying times. We can not thank them enough for their support. Our students will benefit greatly from this donation.”

The $20,000 donation to UIW is part of a larger $2 million in donations Frost has made to organizations across the state of Texas, including $1 million just in San Antonio.

“Our employees often hear me say that Frost is a force for good in people’s everyday lives, and now people outside our company are hearing it too,” says Frost Chairman and CEO Phil Green. “Everything we do revolves around the fact that our customers rely on us to do what’s right, and the communities where we do business rely on us too.”

UIW’s Office of Financial Assistance will soon share an application and information for UIW students to apply for funds from the UIW Emergency Impact Fund.
