UIW Shatters Goal in First Online-Driven Fundraiser

San Antonio – With an emphasis on donors and not just dollars, the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) easily surpassed its goal in the inaugural “One Word. One Goal.” project.  For 35 continuous hours on February 28 and March 1, the online-driven campaign allowed alumni, students, parents, family, faculty, staff and friends to contribute to the success of over two dozen unique UIW programs.

The ultimate goal in the first year of the project was to find at least 250 unique donors ready to support current and future students at the University of the Incarnate Word.  At the final tally, UIW received donations from 381 individuals and $40,003 in support.

“The whole concept behind putting the donors first during the “One Word. One Goal” campaign was to bring our UIW Family together in one effort,” says Chris Gallegos, vice-president for Development and University Relations.  “I want to thank all our students, staff and volunteers who organized and executed a great event.  But we could not have reached our goal without our UIW Family and we look forward to seeing even more of them come together for “One Word. One Goal” next year.”

The inaugural project was unique in that it was presented from various locations on the Broadway Campus of the University of the Incarnate Word but was anchored for 35 straight hours exclusively online.  Students at the UIW Feik School of Pharmacy and the School of Osteopathic Medicine were also involved.  “One Word. One Goal” established a continuous presence on various social media platforms with live messages from students and supporters and real-time updates on the progress of the campaign.
