Guests can sample Asian cuisine enjoy cultural music, traditional dances and authentic drum performances. The highlight of the event is the annual Lion Dance performed by UIW’s Institute of World Cultures Lion Dance Team. Guests will have a chance participate in a variety of cultural activities including traditional Asian games and will be entered to win door prizes.

In the Chinese Zodiac, the monkey is ninth in the 12-year cycle of animals. The Year of the Monkey officially starts on Feb. 8, 2016 and lasts until Jan. 27, 2017. People born in the Year of the Monkey are characterized as quick-witted, curious, innovative and mischievous.

The UIW International Program’s Institute of World Cultures sponsors the university’s annual Asian New Year celebration. The festivities give UIW’s diverse Asian population a taste of home while showcasing Asian cultures to the local community.
