IIA global chair speaks on ‘Audit Never Sleeps’

SAN ANTONIO – The H-E-B School of Business and Administration and ISACA Academic Advisor Dr. Ron Washington proudly hosted the second-annual joint luncheon for the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) on Jan. 24, 2017.

The event featured Angela Witzany, the IIA Global Chairman of the Board and head of internal audit for Sparkassen Versicherung AG Vienna Insurance Group.

The luncheon was held in the Rosenberg Skyroom on the campus of the University of the Incarnate Word. More than 150 business professionals from the San Antonio community attended, representing more than 40 companies. Those in attendance are active members of the San Antonio chapters of IIA and/or ISACA.

IIA is an international professional association with more than 185,000 members worldwide, including 70,000 in the United States. The IIA is the internal audit profession's global voice, recognized authority, acknowledged leader, chief advocate and principal educator, according to its website.

ISACA is a nonprofit, global association that engages in the development, adoption and use of globally accepted, industry-leading knowledge and practices for information systems. The association is comprised of 140,000 members in 180 countries.

Witzany was the guest speaker for the event. Speaking on the topic of “Audit Never Sleeps,” she shared her message that “internal auditors must be credible, reliable and have strong relationships in order to ensure the success of their organizations.

The H-E-B School of Business and Administration plans to host the event again in the future and is proud to facilitate the gathering of the two well-respected organizations.
