Welcome!

The Math and Stats Tutoring Lab guides UIW undergraduate students in improving their math skills in Core Math Prep (CMP), College Algebra, College Geometry, Foundations of Practical Mathematics, Precalculus, Calculus I and II, and Introduction to Probability and Statistics, so that they will be prepared for success in more advanced college math courses and in their future careers.

What We Do

The Math and Stats Tutoring Lab is here to offer help at any point during your math course. You may drop in during our tutoring hours, and you will be assisted on a first-come, first-served basis. If you prefer to know that a tutor will be available for you at a designated time, or if you have questions about a particular course, we recommend that you set up an appointment. We recommend setting appointments for busier times, such as midterms and finals. Remember, the earlier you contact the Math Lab and the more time you spend getting help from the Math Lab, the better your chances will be for success in your math class.

The Math and Stats Tutoring Lab offers peer tutoring in-person as well as in online Microsoft Teams sessions.

Tutoring Hours

The Math and Stats Tutoring Lab is open for walk-ins or for online Microsoft Teams tutoring Monday – Thursday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The Math and Stats Tutoring Lab is open on regular school days and closed on school holidays.

Study Groups

The Math and Stats Tutoring Lab has created Microsoft Teams study groups to connect students who would like to work together. There is a channel for each course we serve. Please click on the link below to join a study group.

Available Virtual Tutoring Center

If you need help in ANY math course, UIW subscribes to an online service called Brainfuse. Brainfuse is an online tutoring service available to all UIW students, 24/7. Brainfuse offers both live and asynchronous assistance. You can add Brainfuse Online Tutoring to your Cardinal Apps and access it there. If you have problems signing onto Brainfuse, contact the UIW IT help desk at (210) 829-2721, submit a ticket or helpdesk@uiwtx.edu.
