The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP): Adelante! increases diversity in the STEM workforce through transformative undergraduate STEM education.
The LSAMP initiative supports historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students in STEM majors. It helps students succeed in science, technology, engineering and math through academic support, research opportunities and campus partnerships. LSAMP also encourages students to complete their STEM degrees and explore graduate school and future careers

LSAMP was named in honor of former congressman, Louis Stokes (Feb. 23, 1925 – Aug. 18, 2015), who spent his life serving and defending those in need. He was an attorney who specialized in civil rights cases, and was the first black congressman elected in the state of Ohio. He served 15 terms in the United States House of Representatives, representing the east side of Cleveland.
*Those who have been accepted to the direct admit program for UIW School of Osteopathic Medicine are not eligible for the scholarship.
