Preparing the workforce of the future through excellence-based education in the sciences

The School of Mathematics, Science and Engineering (SMSE) at the University of the Incarnate Word offers innovative and future-focused programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Through seven academic departments, students can find the ideal degree plan in fields as diverse as environmental science, mechanical engineering, broadcast meteorology, mathematics, computer information systems, cybersecurity or nutrition – just to name a few. Small class sizes mean students have greater access and individualized attention from SMSE faculty, who are leading researchers and experts in their fields.

While at SMSE, students are supported by faculty advisors who help guide them through their degree plans ensuring that they reach all their touchstones and make the most of their university journey. Faculty also help open doors to research and field work opportunities, which enrich the academic experience and help ready them to launch their careers in the sciences.
