The School of Mathematics, Science, and Engineering (MSE) offers degree programs for science-minded students. All programs are designed to challenge students and prepare them for their professional careers or for graduate school. MSE graduates go on to a wide variety of careers, including biology, engineering, medicine, dentistry, teaching, and research

  • UIW offers the only broadcast meteorology program in Texas.
  • MSE students are involved in a wide range of research – from DNA dynamics, infectious disease transmission, and neurological regeneration, to the behavior of electric fish, the chemistry of medicinal plants, and flight controls.
  • Our highly regarded biology and chemistry programs prepare students well for successful entrance into health-related careers.
  • MSE students present their research at regional and national workshops and conferences.
  • Students enjoy small classes at UIW – our student-to-faculty ratio is a low 14:1, and our average class size is just 25.
