Reflection

March 6, 2026

CrossFriday, March 6—Gn 37:3-4, 12-13a, 17b-28a/Mt 21:33-43, 45-46

The scriptures today speak about the desire of evil to overcome good.  Isaiah presents Joseph, the visionary dreamer almost killed by his jealous brothers, but who ultimately saved his people.  Matthew shares Jesus’ parable of the greedy tenants’ plot to kill the owner’s son, an image of Jesus.

Parables are like dreams in that they are imaginative ways to engage the depths of our souls.  Their wisdom is revealed in silence and reflection. Do I make time to nurture my inner spirit?  To reflect on the deeper meaning of life, my relationships, and my actions?

Reflect during this day on “What are my dreams?  Which ones might be God dreaming in me?”  Take some time to dialog with God about your life and God’s plans for you.

As we continue our Lenten journey, may we keep responding to the Ash Wednesday invitation to fast, pray, and reach out others in imitation of Jesus.  This week’s readings have focused on sincerity and humility, faithfulness and self-control.  We pray: God, fill me with your inspiration so that all that I am and desire may begin with you and serve your glory.
