Most of us are used to individuals and families entering the Church and receiving their Sacraments in the parish. It was my junior year in college when I learned this occurs at Catholic colleges as well when my best friend expressed a desire to be Baptized into the Church. For a whole year, as her sponsor, we met with other students with the same desire, and I witnessed her reception into the Church at the Easter Vigil that year.
Nestled within our Incarnate Word campus is the majestic clock tower that not only marks the passage of time but also resonates with the institution's profound Catholic heritage. As we walk through our campus, a familiar tune chimes each day, “The Hymn to the Incarnate Word.” This hymn tune was adapted from Hosanna #34.
Attending Mass outdoors at the Lourdes Grotto on campus has been very special to me. I would often visit the Grotto to say a prayer or sit in peace and nature, looking up at Our Lady of Lourdes on the structure. It has been a place of reflection for me during stressful and joyful moments as a student.
