Continuing Education

Classes are intended for high school teachers who are teaching or about to teach 3D animation, modeling or game technology classes. Classes are only open to individuals ages 18 and older. Participants do not receive college credit for these classes. All classes are face-to-face for use of programs and in-person assistance.

An introduction to one of the most popular free 3D game engines: Unreal. In this course, we will use prebuilt assets to import, light and navigate 3D spaces in game engines.

Level: Beginner - Intermediate

In this introductory course, we will use Maya (free to schools and students) to look at the basics of 3D animation. We will go over the basics of using Maya for Keyframe animation, basic principles like squash and stretch, timing, etc. Workshops will include more simple exercises like the bouncing ball, flour sack and basic acting/physicality.

In this introductory course, we will use Maya and Syncsketch (free to schools and students) to look at the basics of 3D animation and how to let students explore styles of animation. Workshops will include learning the basics of Maya, where to find free characters to animate and how to work with them. We will look at where to find video reference, how to import video reference and use it in Syncsketch, how to help students analyze it and use it as reference in their own work.
