Scholarships

The University of the Incarnate Word offers a number of scholarships to first degree seeking undergraduate students. All merit based scholarships are renewable for up to four years as long as a minimum grade point average of 3.0 is maintained. All awards are given at the time of admission.

Freshmen Applicants

First-time freshman students are automatically considered for academic scholarships as part of their application. These scholarships are awarded based on high school GPA and range between $7,000 - $20,000 per year (effective Fall 2022).

Transfer Applicants

Transfer students who are completing their first undergraduate degree and have completed at least 24 credit hours at an accredited university are automatically considered for academic scholarships as part of their application. These scholarships are awarded based on GPA and range from $13,000 - $17,000 per year.

Catholic High School Award

UIW offers an additional $2,000 per year scholarship for any student graduating from a Catholic high school. There is not a separate application for this award. Accepted students from Catholic high schools will automatically receive the scholarship.

Sibling Discount

UIW offers a discount to families with multiple dependent siblings from the same household attending UIW. Only siblings who are simultaneously enrolled as full-time undergraduate students on the Main Campus may apply. $500 per semester. Apply for the sibling here.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship

Each Phi Theta Kappa member from an accredited 2-year institution will be awarded $2,000 per year. Recipient must be a current member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher. Recipients will need to present their certificate to be awarded.

Alamo Colleges Scholarship

Students pursuing their first bachelor's degree, with most recent 24 credit hours from Alamo Colleges and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, will be awarded $2,000 per year.

Central/South American Scholarship

Any undergraduate student that is applying to UIW from within their home country in the regions of Central and South American will receive a 20% tuition discount. Only students applying to UIW from within their home country and independently of a recruiting agent are eligible.

South Pacific Scholarship

Any undergraduate student applying to UIW from within their home country of Indonesia, Philippines or Vietnam will receive a 20% tuition discount. Only students applying to UIW from within their home country and independently of a recruiting agent are eligible.

Endowed Scholarship

Applicants must be either returning UIW students who have earned a minimum 3.6 cumulative grade point average or high school students who meet the academic scholarship criteria established by the UIW Admissions Office. Application deadline is in March each year.

Sister School Alumni

Students who have received a bachelor's degree from one of UIW's sister school partners will receive a 15% tuition discount towards a master's degree at UIW. This award does not apply to students who are part of special programs, cohorts and/or recruited by third parties.
