UIW is committed to providing educational opportunities to students from all backgrounds, regardless of financial means. More than 90 percent of UIW students receive financial assistance, and there are many opportunities available to students of all majors. We encourage our students to seek additional scholarships to finance their education through community organizations and foundation or accessing the opportunities listed below.


Scholarship Information

  • Scholarship Opportunities for UIW Students - Apply Now! 
    The scholarships listed below are available to UIW students! Check back often for updates.
     
    Jessica Ghawi Scholarship

    Open to female students studying journalism with a preference for sport journalism or broadcasting; have at least a 2.5 GPA, and be a junior or senior in college.

    The application can be found under the individual section.  Students need to click on apply now and then create a user id and password. 
    Deadline March 23, 2019.

    Debbie Stolle Scholarship Fund

    Student must be attending a Texas college; graduate from a high school in Bexar, Kendall, or Comal County; complete 12 hours in the field of interior design; be a US citizen; have at least a 2.5 GPA; participate in civic or church groups and be unable to attend college without financial assistance.

    Deadline March 23, 2019.

    2019-2020 STARS Scholarship

    Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents from South or West Texas. Must have completed at least 12 undergraduate credit hours before applying with a minimum GPA 2.7. Available to full-time undergraduates, graduates, and professional students.
    Deadline: March 29, 2019.

    2019-2020 Endowed Scholarship

    Open to entering freshmen students meeting the Academic Scholarship criteria establised by the Office of Admissions and returning/transfer students with a minimum 3.6 cumulative GPA.
    Deadline: April 12, 2019.

    2019-2020 Alamo Heights Rotary Club Scholarship

    Open to graduating seniors of Alamo Heights High School-Class of 2019. Must be degree seeking and maintain full-time enrollment. 
    Deadline May 3, 2019.

    2019-2020 Sanchez Family Foundation Scholarship

    Open to undergraduate or professional students from Webb County. Must submit a 2019-2020 FAFSA and demonstrate financial need. Must be in good academic standing and maintain full-time status.
    Deadline: May 3, 2019.

    UIW Sibling Discount Application
    Deadline: August 26, 2019 to be considered for Fall 2019/Spring 2020 or January 13, 2020 to be considered for Spring 2020 only.
    Cardinal Chemistry Scholars (C2S) Program 

    Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Must be a chemistry or biochemistry major, currently enrolled at UIW or applied for admission with a minimum GPA 2.8.

    San Antonio Mathematics Scholars (SAMS)

    Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Must be a mathematics or statistics major, currently enrolled at UIW or applied for admission with a minimum GPA 2.8.

  • Merit Scholarships

    Merit Scholarships are awarded by the Office of Admissions for full-time main campus undergraduate students. Find more information on UIW Merit Scholarships here

  • Performing and Fine Arts Scholarships  

    Students interested in performing and fine arts scholarships should contact the designated department for information on auditions and performance dates.

  • ROTC Scholarships  
    Students interested in ROTC scholarships should visit the ROTC website for more information on the program, scholarships, and requirements.
  • Athletic Scholarships
    UIW competes in the NCAA Division I Southland Conference. Scholarships are available and awarded by the coaches of each sport. For information on athletic scholarships, contact the Athletic Office at 210-829-2722 or visit the Athletics Homepage
  • Scholarship Search Engines

    Students are encouraged to apply for external scholarships in addition to any UIW awards they receive. There are free search engines that students can use to find more opportunities.

  • Discontinued Scholarship Programs

    Beginning Summer 2019, the following UIW programs will be discontinued:

    • Incoming Undergraduate Students: McCracken Alumni Referral Scholarship (MARS), UIW Top 5% Scholarship, UIW Direct Admit Scholarship
    • Incoming Graduate Students: Tuition discounts for Delta Mu Delta members and undergraduate students accepted to a graduate program
    • Incoming International Students: UIW International Scholarship
    • Returning Students: Upgrade Your Aid Grant
