It’s Nearly Time to Light the Way

More lights, more food, more holiday fun at the University of the Incarnate Word

San Antonio – Mark your calendars for the University of the Incarnate Word’s (UIW) annual holiday celebration, Light the Way, sponsored by H-E-B! Last year, the holiday event kicked off the San Antonio holiday season with an exciting new festival format set throughout the UIW campus. The festivities drew a record-breaking crowd of approximately 9,000 guests.

This year’s event, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17, is sure to draw large crowds as well and will begin earlier than ever, at 3 p.m., allowing guests more time to enjoy the holiday activities. Guests will enjoy live entertainment and a Kids’ Corner, where guests can take selfies with Santa, decorate a cookie with Bird Bakery, ride the kiddie train, take part in activities brought to us by our friends at The DoSeum and Fun 4 Alamo Kids, and much more!

More than 40 vendors will be featured in our Holiday Shoppe giving guests a jump-start on their Christmas shopping. Local vendors will feature a variety of handmade crafts, special gifts and lots of fun products. Of course, guests won’t go hungry in the SA Food Truck Association – Food Truck Yard, which will feature over a dozen trucks food and dessert trucks.

The earlier start time also means more time for lights! At 6:30 p.m. watch the lights turn on from wherever you are on the festival grounds.

UIW students, alumni and parents will also be invited to exclusive activities during the event.

As always, admission is free and limited parking is available on campus. Those seeking to park on campus may only enter through the gate at Hwy 281. All other gates will be closed to vehicle traffic. Overflow parking will be available at the AT&T lot across Hildebrand.

Once again, we will be collecting new, unused toys for the Elf Louise Christmas Project.

Be a part of this Holiday tradition.  Join us at the 2018 Light the Way Holiday Festival. UIW's signature Christmas event and our gift to the community.
