Players scrimmage at spring game

The University of the Incarnate Word’s offensive and defensive football units squared off in a scrimmage game Saturday, April 20, marking the end of their spring drills.

The drills included early-morning practice, demanding workouts, and countless meetings at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium and Fieldhouse.

Next up are summer and fall camps before the season kicks off Aug. 31 when the Cardinals play host to Northern Colorado – the first test for the team which hopes to recapture the Southland Conference championship and make a deep FCS playoff run after finishing 9-2 last year.

Being physically prepared for the fall season is one thing, but second-year Head Coach Clint Killough pointed out another important aspect.
