Easter/Holy Week

Holy Week - Easter Octave Worship Schedule

March 24, 2024 - PALM SUNDAY | Mass at 11 a.m. (Chapel of the Incarnate Word) View Chapel of the Incarnate Word LivestreamNOTE: There will be no additional Masses on this day in the Chapel of the Incarnate Word or Our Lady's Chapel.
  • Holy Week begins: Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week with the commemoration of Christ's triumphant arrival in Jerusalem. Lent officially ends on Holy Thursday as the beginning of the Mass of the Lord’s Supper signifies our entry into the Sacred Paschal Triduum. The Triduum is celebrated as one continuous liturgy over three consecutive days beginning the evening of Holy Thursday and ending with vespers on Easter Sunday evening.

March 28, 2024 - EVENING MASS OF THE LORD'S SUPPER (HOLY THURSDAY) | Mass at 6 p.m. (Chapel of the Incarnate Word) View Chapel of the Incarnate Word Livestream.
  • The Paschal Triduum begins: The Mass of the Lord’s supper commemorates the institution of the Eucharist and priesthood, as well as Jesus’ commandment of love and service. Weather permitting, the transfer of the Blessed Sacrament will follow communion with a procession to the Lourdes Grotto (next to the SEC building) and a period of adoration until 9:00 PM.

March 29, 2024 - GOOD FRIDAY | Service at 6 p.m. (Chapel of the Incarnate Word) View Chapel of the Incarnate Word Livestream.
  • We prayerfully recall the passion and death of Jesus in today’s celebration and our hope that we will one day be restored to life with him. The liturgy is not a Mass, but includes scripture (notably, the proclamation of the Passion), Adoration of the Cross, and Holy Communion.

March 30, 2024 - EASTER VIGIL | Mass at 6 p.m. (Chapel of the Incarnate Word) View Chapel of the Incarnate Word Livestream
  • Easter Vigil is considered by the Church to be “the greatest and most noble of all solemnities.” It is the pinnacle of the liturgical year and our spiritual lives. The evening is rich in symbol and sacrament: the Easter fire is lit, and new candle blessed, the Exsultet is chanted, we hear the stories of our faith, and the Eucharist is shared.

March 31, 2024 - EASTER SUNDAY | Mass at 11 a.m. (Chapel of the Incarnate Word) View Chapel of the Incarnate Word Livestream  NOTE: There will be no additional Masses on this day in the Chapel of the Incarnate Word or Our Lady's Chapel.
  • Easter Sunday marks the end of the Sacred Triduum and is the first day of the Easter Octave beginning the fifty days of the Easter season which will conclude with the Solemnity of Pentecost.

April 7, 2024 - Second Sunday of Easter (Divine Mercy Sunday)
  • Mass at 11 a.m. (Our Lady’s Chapel) View 11 a.m. livestream of Mass from Our Lady’s Chapel
  • Divine Mercy Chaplet at 12:15 p.m. (Our Lady’s Chapel) During Jesus’ revelations to St. Faustina, he asked that a feast day be dedicated to the Divine Mercy and that it be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. St. John Paul II officially designated this Sunday as Divine Mercy Sunday. We will celebrate this feast with a sung Chaplet of the Divine Mercy following the 11 a.m. Mass (ca. 12:15 p.m.). All are welcome.
