Bio

Sara Shirinkam is a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) since 2018. Prior to that, she has worked as an instructor in the Department of Mathematics at University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) since 2013. Dr. Shirinkam spent her Postdoctoral Fellow at UTSA and worked on a project funded by the U.S. Department of Defense. She received her Ph.D. degree in Mathematics from K.N. Toosi University of Technology, Iran, through a joint program with the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2012. She also worked as a visiting scholar at Wayne State University in 2011. Dr. Shirinkam enjoys playing piano, oil painting and spending time with her family.

Dr. Shirinkam’s research areas are in advanced data analytics and computational mathematics. Her research in data analytics addresses problems in predictive and high dimensional data analytics. Her research in computational mathematics is concerned with numerical algebraic geometry and algebraic statistics for model based clustering, and multicomplex spaces for computation of high order derivatives.
