The Appeal Process - Admission to UIW

Applicants denied admission to the university may appeal the decision by completing the appeal process. Appeals will be reviewed by appropriate administrators that may include the Director of Admissions, Dean of Student Success, Senior Director of Advising Services and the University Provost.

There are two separate appeal opportunities

The Undergraduate Appeals Process

  • Download and complete the Appeal Process Form
  • Submit any new information (updated GPA, increased class ranking, letters of recommendation, new SAT/ACT scores) that may support your appeal.
  • Attach a typed letter indicating the circumstances to be considered in reviewing your appeal.
  • Return the completed form, letter of appeal, and any new relevant information to the Office of Student Success address below. Documents should be mailed or hand-delivered in one packet to:

Upon receipt of information, appeal will be reviewed within 10 days, and you will be notified in writing of the final decision.

The Graduate Appeals Process

Denied applicants wishing to appeal the graduate admission decision will need to submit an appeal to the graduate admissions committee within 10 working days of receipt of the admission decision letter. Once the appeal has been submitted, the applicant will be notified in writing of the committee's decision within 10 working days of the receipt of the appeal form. The decision of the graduate admissions committee is final and may not be appealed further.

Please note, when submitting the appeal, the applicant will need to include:

  • A personal statement indicating the circumstances to be considered in the appeal.
  • Documentation of any new information that may support the appeal that was not available or known to the applicant and that could not have been available or known to the applicant with exercise of due diligence by the applicant at the time of submission of the application.
