2015 emeritus winners

On Tuesday, April 21, UIW hosted its annual Faculty Appreciation Luncheon. Part of this celebration included awarding the prestigious Emeritus Awards to faculty. Pictured above are the current 2015 winners as well as previous winners. The 38th Annual Swing-In Auction Party & Golf Tournament
The 38th Annual Swing-In Auction Party "Throwback to the 80s" is set for Thursday, April 30 in the McCombs Center Sky Room. The golf tournament will take place on Friday, May 1 at The Republic Golf Course. Proceeds benefit UIW student scholarships. 2015 Corporate Cup
UIW will host the citywide San Antonio Sports Corporate Cup on Saturday, May 30 from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the UIW Athletic Complex. Companies from all over San Antonio will compete in field day type activities for points and prizes. UIW is in the large company category against groups such as H-E-B, USAA, Rackspace and more. This year there is an online registration form to be a part of TEAM UIW. Visit http://uiw.edu/teamuiw/ to select which activities you would be interested in participating or sign-up to volunteer during tailgate. You will be notified which activities you will be competing in closer to the event by the Team UIW Corporate Cup Committee, as there are limited spots for each. Each UIW employee who participates will receive a free t-shirt! Families are encouraged to attend and support but are not eligible to participate EXCEPT for a 2k Healthy Walk. As part of this competition, UIW can earn points for collecting items for the charity challenge. TEAM UIW has selected to focus on donations for Haven for Hope. Haven for Hope is collecting the following new items ONLY in all sizes: packages of socks, packages of underwear, cotton sports or regular bras and packages of white cotton t-shirts. The Big Give S.A.
Help support UIW and our Marching Cardinals Band by participating in The Big Give S.A. on Tuesday, May 5. The goal of the Big Give S.A. is to introduce our community to all of the wonderful charitable organizations located in South Central Texas. May 5 has been designated as the city's Giving Holiday. For 24 hours, you are invited to log in to the http://www.thebiggivesa.org and give big to UIW. Our UIW Marching Cardinals have received new band uniforms, and our goal is to continue their momentum through your generosity and support. You are also more than welcome to designate your gifts to other projects and programs at UIW and are encouraged to give big to any of the other 800+ nonprofits participating on May 5. The Diviners
The UIW Department of Theatre Arts invites you to The Diviners, a marvelously theatrical and heartfelt play. The action is set during the depression era in rural Indiana, and it centers on the relationship between a sensitive, strangely gifted young man and a disenchanted ex-preacher. Their friendship proves an instrument of mutual spiritual healing. But when the townsfolk pressure the former preacher to resume his religious calling in a more defined and limited way, a catastrophic collision of emotions ensues and leads to a shocking conclusion.

The UIW Institute of World Cultures (IWC) is hosting the Chinese Folks Art Festival on Tuesday, April 28 from 12:30 - 3 p.m. in the ICC Auditorium and Boardroom 1. Come enjoy beautiful Chinese music, martial arts, dumplings and more. Chinese Clubs from both Incarnate Word High School and St. Anthony Catholic High School will perform as well. 5K White Coat Run
The Feik School of Pharmacy APhA-ASP (American Pharmacists Association) is conducting its first annual White Coat 5K run on Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. at UIW starting behind the Barshop Natatorium. This event is open to the public. Those in the healthcare field are encouraged to participate while wearing their white lab coat. Pre-registration is $25. Everything I Never Showed You
The UIW Department of Art presents the 2015 Senior Capstone Exhibition titled Everything I Never Showed You from Friday, May 1 to Tuesday, June 30 at the Rosenberg School of Optometry (9725 Datapoint Dr., San Antonio, TX 78229). There will be an opening reception on Friday, May 1 from 6 - 8 p.m. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday - Friday excluding UIW holidays. Extended Academic Programs

 

EAP Selected for Multi-Year Contract
EAP is proud to announce that they we have been selected by the USAF Contracting Squadron at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) for a five-year contract to deliver educational services to the METC Respiratory Therapy program at JBSA. This award joins an earlier contract for Occupational Therapy educational services also at JBSA.

Members of the Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio's Scholarship Committee and student recipients of the foundation's scholarships pose for a photo at last Friday's annual scholarship luncheon held at the Feik School of Pharmacy.The reception gave members of the foundation an opportunity to meet the current recipients of the scholarship as well as an opportunity for the student recipients to learn about the story behind their scholarships and personally thank their benefactors.

UIW Marching Cardinals to participate in the 2015 Flambeau Parade
Viva Fiesta! We are proud to announce that our UIW Marching Cardinals will be participating in the Flambeau Parade on Saturday, April 25 starting at 7:15 p.m. Make sure you come out and support your fellow Cardinals as they march with pride in their new uniforms! If you're not able to make it out to the parade in person, you can watch it live on KSAT-12.

Benefits Open Enrollment
Benefits open enrollment runs until Friday, May 8. Aetna is now administrating the health and dental plans and Metlife is providing our vision insurance. Everyone must enroll or waive benefits this year through Banner Self-Service via the myWord portal. Human Resources will be available in the Library's Computer Lab, Room 230 from 9 - 11 a.m. and 1 - 3 p.m. on Monday, April 27, Monday, May 4, Wednesday, May 6 and Friday, May 8 to assist with the online open enrollment. Summer Training Call for Proposals
Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit a proposal for either of our two summer institutes at the UIW Campus. Proposals will be accepted now through Monday, May 25.

  • Blackboard Guru: Monday, June 1 - Friday, June 12; 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.; Joyce Building, Room 236
    This is your opportunity to take your course from a repository for your syllabus and PowerPoint presentations to an integrated, interactive, and engaging course. This two-week seminar will include instruction in: pedagogy, course organization and design, assessment, assignments, the grade center and other beneficial topics. Upon successful completion of the course, UIW faculty will receive a $500.00 technology stipend. Stipends are only available for full time UIW faculty. Jackets and Jewels Brunch
Come joins the St. Anthony Catholic High School Alumni Relations Association Sunday, May 3 from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. for the annual Jackets and Jewels Brunch. This year's brunch will be held at Casa Rio located at 430 E. Commerce St. on the Riverwalk. This is the yearly celebration of all the wonderful women who make St. Anthony Catholic High School so special. Alumni, current Lady Jackets and their female family members are all welcome to join us for this memorable event.

 

The cost is $35 a person and all funds raised go towards scholarships and initiatives that keep the St. Anthony Alumni Association active and growing.
