VA Social Worker, VA Liaison

Amber is a licensed clinical social worker who graduated with a bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Central Florida in 2006 and a master's degree in Social Work from the University of Central Florida in 2007. Over the last 13 years, Amber has worked within the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs in a variety of roles. Amber has been a part of an Embedded Behavioral Health team as a direct services provider (therapist) for an infantry battalion, served as an Internal Behavioral Health Consultant at a large MTF supporting one of their medical homes, was a clinician on a multi-disciplinary treatment team at a Basic Training/Advanced Individual Training post serving trainees, soldiers, retirees and family members. Additionally, Amber has spent time as a suicide prevention coordinator with the VA in Cleveland, Ohio.

As VITAL Coordinator, Amber can:

  • Provide education on various VA benefits and services Student Veterans are entitled to as well as assist with enrollment into VHA Healthcare.
  • Assist Student Veterans in accessing and navigating available VA resources and community and on-campus services to support their academic success.
  • Provide brief counseling services to eligible Student Veterans.
