Advisory Board


The Business Advisory Board was established in 2014 to advise, promote and actively support the H-E-B School of Business & Administration in achieving its mission and implementing its strategic plan for the betterment of our students, faculty, alumni and the business community.

Purpose and Objectives

School Advocacy & Collaboration
Help the School develop contacts, working relationships, and networking opportunities
Increase and strengthen the School’s reputation within the business community at a local, regional, national, and international level
Collaborate with the School to support strategies that will enhance the School’s image and identity
Be an Ambassador for the School and University
Business Advice & Expertise
Serve as a sounding board with review and critical thought about present and proposed School programs and activities (academic degree programs, centers and institute initiatives, international outreach, and student internships etc) to meet the business community’s needs and further our students’ educational development.
Share expertise with students and faculty, through such means as speaking to classes or student organizations       





Labor Market and Career Advice
To expand opportunities for students to find employment with Board member firms and other employers
Foster learning opportunities for HEBSBA faculty within the business community to facilitate the development of internships, externships, and co-operative educational opportunities for our students
Sponsorship and Awards
Sponsor events and activities that bring the business world into the classroom and onto the campus
Recognize individuals who distinguish themselves through accomplishment and service to the School and the UIW community
Support faculty research addressing real-world business problems            





Corporate Linkages
Participate in a continuous, multi-directional communication among the Board members, School administrators and faculty, university officials and the community
Identify areas for research and study where faculty expertise can be combined with community resources to solve business problems
Provide advice and counsel on the School’s strategic direction by reviewing the mission, plans and operational tactics the School will employ to meet its goals
Development Support
To assist the School in meeting its financial and other development objectives through participation in the identification, cultivation and solicitation of support from individuals and organizations within its principal constituencies
