ECCLS Collaborates on Grant Award to Aid Migrants

As part of a collaboration between the Hilton Foundation Fund Sisters Initiative and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, the Ettling Center for Civic Leadership & Sustainability will be part of a grant award of $1.8 million which will be used to create, coordinate, reinforce and expand the Catholic Sisters Inter Congregational Network for Migrants and Economic Empowerment across the US and Mexico by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Dr. Ricardo Gonzalez, the Ettling Center’s Director, will administer the roughly $360,000 grant award focused on supporting student and faculty service-learning activities and ministries in the United States as well as conduct research to identify best practices in supporting non-profit organizations in building networks in areas of need, focusing on health, education, and wellness.

This recent grant award brings the total contributions received by the Ettling Center for Civic Leadership & Sustainability in partnership with the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word to more than $500,000 over the past twelve months. Questions regarding the grant may be directed to Dr. Ricardo Gonzalez at (210) 283-6423 or rigonza4@uiwtx.edu.
