UIW's Student Government Association, Campus Engagement, Mission and Ministry, the Ettling Center for Civic Leadership and Sustainability, and St. Vincent De Paul of San Antonio together with the UIW community came together to create the Cardinals’ Cupboard Food Pantry in response to issues of food insecurity on the university campus in the Fall of 2018. The pilot program, which began in late October of 2018, provided services from the back of a donated St. Vincent De Paul "U-Haul" truck once a week to provide campus community members with canned food and other non-perishable items. With the generous support of student and university staff volunteers, the "mobile" food pantry provided over 150 members of the campus community with access to over 8,600 pounds of donated canned food, cereal, rice, and toiletries in the inaugural year. We invite you to visit the current location of the pantry on the Broadway Campus in Joeris Hall which is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
