Saturday, May 8 - 12 p.m.

Graduates of the UIW Dreeben School of Education, School of Professional Studies and Rosenberg School of Optometry will be honored at a commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 8 at noon at Gayle and Tom Benson Stadium (UIW Broadway campus). As guest tickets are limited, a livestream of the ceremony can be watched below on that day and time.

FAQ

The modified ceremony will include many of the traditions you know and love from UIW. Each ceremony will be approximately an hour and a half, with much of that time reserved for each graduate to enjoy their moment crossing the stage. To allow for adequate social distancing, graduates will be seated in designated chairs on the Benson Stadium football field as soon as they arrive, instead of gathering for a procession. Information regarding additional safety measures can be found in the FAQs below.

Gates will open 30 minutes prior to each ceremony. All graduates and guests may access seating through the gates closest to the McDermott Convocation Center entrance (right next to the Cardinal statue). Graduates will be immediately directed to their assigned seats, sectioned by school, and guests will be directed to their seats in the stadium stands.

As with every commencement ceremony, Sunday best attire is encouraged. However, since this event is outdoors, you should plan your attire accordingly. Due to the turf on Benson Stadium, graduates are not permitted to wear spike or thin-heeled shoes. Wedges and block-heels are allowed.

Your participation was noted in the Statement of Intention to Graduate form at beginning of the semester. No further confirmation is required.

The undergraduate and graduate ceremonies have been separated to allow for an equal number of participants in each ceremony. This will allow us to properly social distance.

In order to safely practice social distancing, tickets to the undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. ceremonies will be limited to two per graduate. Graduates are advised to be on the lookout for an email with a link to claim their tickets. The link will be active for two weeks, after which time the tickets will be forfeited.

If there are any unclaimed tickets, an email will be sent to graduates to claim extra tickets (no more than two additional tickets) on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Yes, all guests require a ticket including infants and small children.

All cars with graduates should follow the Graduate Parking and Arrival instructions.

In order to maintain proper social distancing, those participating in the undergraduate/graduate ceremonies will be seated immediately upon arrival without a procession. Graduates will be seated in alphabetical order by school. Graduates of the Health Profession Schools should check with their schools.

Yes! LifeTouch photographers will be on site to take photos as graduates cross the stage. An email to purchase your images will be sent to your UIW email address following the ceremony.
